Sens. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. and Tom Coburn, R-Okla.,
introduced a bill Friday that would end federal funding for public broadcasting, reports the
National Journal. "Americans struggling to make ends meet shouldn't be forced to fund public broadcasting when there are already thousands of choices for educational and entertainment programming on the television, radio and web," DeMint said.
You see, pubcasting is not free. We, the taxpayers, are unfairly forced to subsidize this dinasour. Sesame St. is nice but what if the underpriviladged families it's trying to serve can't afford electricity or the cable required for PBS access in this digital world? The air is fresh and sweet for the folks on Sesame St.... but not in the ghetto known as middle class America.
